The Bartenders Best Friend

When we first created RumChata we knew that we were onto something big, but we've been truly flattered by the endorsements we receive from bartenders and mixologists. Many of these fans have called RumChata the “Bartender's Best Friend” due to the ease of creating original and flavorful RumChata based drinks. But don't take our word for it, try mixing RumChata with any of the following ingredients and we're sure that you'll agree that RumChata is, indeed, the "Bartender's Best Friend".

  • Espresso, tea and coffee flavored vodkas and liqueurs make great iced coffees, cappuccinos or chais.
  • Fruit flavored vodkas and liqueurs make delicious dessert drinks and shots.
  • Whisky, bourbon and flavored or spiced whiskies mix wonderfully and create drinks that highlight the tremendous flavors of the whiskies.
  • Chocolate vodkas, liqueurs and hot chocolate make a very decadent taste experience.

A drink worthy of royalty

Horchata was originally concocted by the ancient Egyptians for the Pharaohs, a feat easily as impressive as the Pyramids. The pioneering Egyptian chufa style horchata, which is made with chufa—also known as the tigernut—was so revered that it soon found its way to Spain during the time of the Moorish kings.

Today, you'll continue to find horchata made with this same original recipe in most areas of Spain, where it remains a very popular summertime beverage—we're talking Antonio Banderas popular. Chufa plantations aren't exactly a booming business on this side of the pond, so when horchata was finally introduced to the Americas the recipe had to be changed. Rice based horchata is now served extensively throughout Mexico and Central America, where the recipe is often passed down generation to generation. These authentic recipes include varied mixtures of rice, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon and either water or dairy.

For our money, the only thing we can think of that is more delicious than horchata is horchata with rum in it, which is why we created RumChata. We hope you'll get your next party started with a bottle of your own and love it as much as we do, if that's even possible (we like it a whole lot).

THE RUMCHATA STORY

Of late, we've been bombarded with questions about the origins of RumChata, and the truth is, the answer is not a simple one. RumChata's ingredients are hand selected from all around the world. It's not easy crafting the best tasting cream liqueur in the Universe, but it's a challenge we've taken head on. Every delicious batch of RumChata is mixed up from scratch and contains our own unique blend of premium Caribbean rum, which is selected for its light and smooth character. We then take that rum and homogenize it with the finest dairy cream from Wisconsin.

The final step of our process is blending in our own unique flavors, which come from six different countries and as far away as Madagascar. With the completion of each batch, we taste test it, hand bottle it, carefully pack it up, and then it is finally ready for delivery to our dedicated fans far and wide. There's nothing we love more than providing our customers with the best tasting cream liqueur ever—except maybe drinking the best tasting cream liqueur ever. And lazy rivers. And drinking RumChata in a lazy river, but we digress—that is why we use only the highest quality ingredients available on the market.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: Where can I find RumChata near me?

A: You can search for retailers here.

Q: Does RumChata need to be refrigerated?

A: No, RumChata does not need to be refrigerated. The cream has been homogenized with the rum and the alcohol acts as a preservative. An unopened bottle of RumChata tastes great for several years if stored between the temperatures of 50-75ºF. Once opened RumChata can remain at room temperature and will keep its great taste for over 6 months, but we have never seen a bottle last longer than a single visit with a few good friends!

Q: When I mix RumChata with apple juice it curdles, why?

A: RumChata is made with real dairy cream and if mixed with anything that has a high acid concentration - i.e. juices - the cream will curdle. This also happens with anything that has a high level of citric acid, such as soft drinks. It is a natural reaction between an acid and a base and there is absolutely nothing wrong with the product; it just looks unappealing.

Q: I tried a RumChata root beer float at a restaurant and it was great, but when I tried it at home it curdles - why?

A: RumChata is made with real dairy cream and it will curdle if mixed with anything that has a high level of citric acid - i.e. some soft drinks. You can find out what root beer does not curdle the cream by experimenting with different brands. We know from personal experience that A&W and Dad's do not curdle the cream, and both make a great RumChata root beer float!

Q: I'm worried that RumChata is too delicious. Is it tremendously high in calories?

A: Not at all. You can find complete nutrition information here.
